- Google DeepMind's MuZero, a successor to AlphaGo and AlphaZero that masters Go, chess, shogi and Atari without being told the rules: it learns a model of only what matters for planning (value, policy and reward) and combines it with AlphaZero's lookahead tree search, setting a new state of the art on 57 Atari games while matching AlphaZero's superhuman play in Go, chess and shogi. First described in a 2019 preprint, it was published in Nature in December 2020.
