- Koala, a dialogue model for academic research that Berkeley AI Research introduced on April 3, 2023: Koala-13B fine-tunes Meta's LLaMA on dialogue data gathered from the web, released as weight diffs against LLaMA with the EasyLM framework and an online demo. In BAIR's user study its answers were often preferred over Stanford's Alpaca and at least tied with ChatGPT in over half of cases; BAIR called it a research prototype with major shortcomings in content, safety and reliability.
