- OpenAI's DALL·E 2 (2022), an AI system that creates realistic images and art from a natural-language description, combining concepts, attributes and styles at 4x the resolution of the original DALL·E, and able to edit images (inpainting), extend them beyond the frame (outpainting) and make variations; OpenAI limited its ability to generate violent, hate or adult images and photorealistic faces of real people. It opened in beta in July 2022 and was removed from the OpenAI API on May 12, 2026.
