- Wan2.1, Alibaba's open (Apache 2.0) suite of video foundation models, first released February 25, 2025 with 14B and 1.3B text-to-video and 14B image-to-video models, later joined by first-and-last-frame and VACE creation-and-editing models. Its team says it beats open-source and commercial models on several benchmarks, the 1.3B model needs only 8.19 GB of VRAM (a 5-second 480p clip in about 4 minutes on an RTX 4090), and it was the first video model to render both Chinese and English text.
