- Stability AI's Stable Diffusion 3, text-to-image models built on the Multimodal Diffusion Transformer (MMDiT), with separate weights for image and text tokens that share information both ways, trained by rectified flow for better text comprehension and typography. Its first open release, the 2B-parameter SD3 Medium (June 12, 2024), handled long prompts, hands, faces and in-image text on consumer GPUs; Stability later said it fell short of its standards and followed with SD 3.5 in October 2024.
