- GPT-3, OpenAI's 175-billion-parameter autoregressive language model, 10 times larger than any previous non-sparse model: its 2020 paper showed it could do many tasks few-shot, from a handful of examples in the prompt and without gradient updates or fine-tuning, with strong results on translation, question answering and cloze tasks and news articles that human evaluators had difficulty telling from human writing. OpenAI shut down its original API models, including davinci, on January 4, 2024.
